Okay so this ones not so alternative, but it’s another thing that can be done to get in the Halloween spirit! We went to Farmer Copleys, I’d remembered seeing Becky posting about it last year and luckily she did again so we noted it and off we went on our way back from Newcastle a few weekends ago. It’s just off the M62, through Pontefract so not too far from Leeds if that’s where you’re based.

It turns out a few of my friends had heard of this place,as it has a yummy farm shop and cafe, and is the place to go for decent meat for BBQ season. But in Autumn it’s all about the pumpkins, with field after field full of them.

There’s loads for kids to do, face painting, hay bale climbing, pumpkin carving and much more. There was food vans too so we could have easily spent half a day there if we went with our nephews! However we just went straight off in search of the perfect pumpkins. We walked  through field after field of mainly orange pumpkins and then I heard someone say, the fancy ones are over there! I knew this must be the perfect place to find an instagramable Gourd so off we went.

And I sure did find them! We collected lots of little ones and had the most fun foraging looking for the most beautiful ones. We hadn’t taken a wheelbarrow (otherwise known as gold dust as there weren’t any!) so we improvised with Luke’s snood – here he is looking like the proud father of his group of gourds.

Of course I also dressed for the occasion so had to wear my orange La Redoute coat, it was its first outing since I bought it. It was an early winter purchase, I think I got it around late August in the sale, and it was £27! Bargain. I love the colour of the faux fur against the burnt orange, and I like the fact it’s got a faux leather buckle fastening instead of toggles. They don’t have it in stock anymore but This one at £59 is rather similar. I hadn’t packed my wellies so my comfy Hotters went on and stopped me from slipping over as it was pretty muddy the day we went!

We had a lovely day out and will be doing it again for sure, did you go pumpkin picking this Halloween season?
