I HATE packing light, I’m not designed to work around a capsule wardrobe, or plan outfits to the last minute detail with interchanging components to make it all look different from day to evening and back to day again. I also can’t fit the whole of my liquid needs into a 20cm X 20cm sandwich bag. Its just not for me. However when you’re booked on a flight to Cologne because you won a competition(more on that in a later post) then you can’t really demand extra luggage if you’re going for 2 nights only! So after numerous attempts I managed to get everything packed!

I still did not manage to pull off mix and match separates with effortless matching shoes and bags for each occasion but I did manage to squeeze it all into my new beautiful River Island suitcase. Win.

I’d bought this ASOS Denim Layla Tiered Dress for the summer I’d hoped we’d have in England so needless to say it had been hanging unworn on the back of my bedroom door for quite a few weeks whilst I waited for the sun to shine. I was more than a little excited when I saw we were due lovely sunny weather for our visit to Cologne so it was straight in the case.

I wore it for our second day there when we walked into central Cologne and went on a walking tour as I knew it would be perfectly comfy to spend the day in. As always I was right.
The elastic waist meant that our quick trip to McDonalds (yep we were THOSE tourists!) was easily accommodated, the tie straps meant I could loosen them off as we walked around in the sunshine so I didn’t get strap marks, and the material which was thicker than a chambray but not as thick as most denim meant it was weighty enough not to be blown up around my ears when the wind blowed(and not so thick it was too hot to wear). It’s a core range dress and I’m wearing the 18 here, I’d say it would fit up to a 20 maybe higher depending on your busy size.
I styled it with a 3 tier tassle necklace that I picked up in the River Island sale the day before and my Aldo snakeskin sandals that were my go to sandals last year, I wanted to keep it simple and keep the boho vibe that the dress seems to have thanks to its tiered hem and tassles.

The majority of these shots were taken on the beautiful terrace of our hotel by the equally as beautiful Lucinda. Thanks to the also beautiful Rachel for the shots by the River Rhine.

It’s now in the sale too so what more do you need? Oh and I hear they might be a heatwave on the way… A girl can only wish!
