Our first day in Barcelona was so chilled , we explored the hotel and made the most of the heat and sun whilst we could by the rooftop pool. In the evening we got ready for our Foodlover Tapas Tour. Comfy shoes are recommended as it involves about a mile of walking – so heels were a no go for it for me. It’s quite a casual affair, however as the tour ends in a lovely gastro restaurant (in our case La Taverna Del Clinic) I wanted to wear something pretty! I’m glad I did as we were seated in a gorgeous glass private dining area, and were treated so special! I’m all over lace at the moment. I’ve never been a massive lace fan, well more so I’ve been really fussy on the type of lace, I don’t like the thin cheap stuff, I love eyelash lace and I like it when it verges on Broderie Anglaise/Crochet the most. A good thick, good quality lace is perfect! I’ve been craving all the Self Portrait Spring/Summer Collection however thanks the fact it only goes up to a 14 it’s a no go. So I’ve been sourcing alternatives (which I might do a bit of a wish list post soon on!) which do go into plus sizes at least.

When I saw this Full Lace Skirt on Very (£40) it was actual love. It’s got the thick crochet lace, gorgeous edging and it’s a midi length which means I can wear it high waisted and not flash my bum. I had to persevere with actually getting my size in this as there was lots of out of stock situations going on! I finally got one though and knew it was perfect for Barcelona. I’m wearing a 20 here and it allowed a bit of extra room at the waist for the tapas that was to come!

I teamed it with a Very lace Cami top from last year (I featured the cream version here last year) although I’m looking for a strappy crop top which won’t involve as much fabric being tucked in the skirt. Shout me if you see one! I wore my comfy debenhams sandals also from last year, and added my new River Island Bucket Bag (£32) which I’m loving. It can be more of a bucket shape, or the clasp in the centre makes it more of a wing shape, and it fits my DSLR in which was the main criteria for buying a new bag. I’m using it daily now so getting some use out of it.

And of course I couldn’t forget my travel essential my Chaffree* shorts. I was sent a black pair which I wore loads and were perfect for walking on the tapas tour in the evening heat. I actually can’t say how much these have changed city breaks and holidays in general for me! I’ve always struggled with chafing even when I was younger and  a size 12/14 (there has never been a thigh gap in my life and I don’t care!) I think back to our honeymoon and the annoyance I had with it all- I bought cycling shorts in Florence to help ease it! Needless to say they were a lot hotter and not as comfy as my Chaffree.

All in all I loved this outfit, it was perfect for eating lots in and was comfy to walk for miles in. I’m going to be wearing it a lot this summer providing we get some warm weather. Let me know what you think in the comments!

*Chaffree sent for review all through ya and options and general love are my own!
