Last week I went off to the Royal Amouries to go and celebrate local businesses at the Leeds Lifestyle Awards. I was invited by Made in Leeds TV to go and see all the behind the scenes action and generally do blogger things whilst there! It was a black tie, red carpet kind of affair, so I knew a new dress was needed. I turned to my faves ASOS as I needed fast delivery (I had 5 days!) and the Yorkshire in me meant I wasn’t about to pay £6 NDD with anyone else so ASOS it was! I had a few choices and took to Twitter to ask people’s thoughts and majority win went to this dress. I’d already started to lean towards it as I’d previously tried on the same style for another event in a silky material but the non stretch material meant it wasn’t comfy enough for a full sit down meal, but I knew I loved the style. I prayed that the waist would be stretchy on this beautiful velvet number.

It was, infact the whole material was soft, stretchy and swishy and it just fit to a tee. It’s a core range 18, and I’m hoping they decide to do this in Curve as I think it’s so lovely it deserves to be. It’s that great that after a weekend of talking about it, it had sold out. It has to be restocked as it’s just so fabulous though, the colour is just the perfect midnight navy and it just pops.

I swished up to the event with Kellie and we were immediately photographed and met House of Solo Magazine, who is lovely! I then got chatting to the lovely Poppy and Jack from Attic who were up for Best Club, they were both super lovely and I want to go visit them soon! We also got awed by Harrison the mind reader, he guessed the number on the dice Poppy and jack were holding, then he made me choose a card in my head. I’d already chosen one before he started to say think of the suit, the number etc. Once chosen he asked my name and he then showed me that each card had a four letter girls name on the back. You know where this is going, and yes the jack of spades had Lucy written on it! Amazing!

Blurry shot but I think it shows the moment off well!

Time had quickly passed and it was time to be seated to be plied with food and drink whilst waiting for the awards to start! We were sat with some really interesting people and Kellie likened it to the naughty relatives table at a wedding! We did manage to keep quite well behaved though whilst having a good giggle!

The awards came and went, the highlight being Attic winning best club. Of course we cheered the loudest when they went up to accept their award! The night flew by and I’m glad to say my new shoes (also Asos £45) were so comfy  all through out it. I’m loving the jacquard shoe trend this season, and I I haven’t yet found a pair of wide fit or size 9 boots, so when I saw these size 9 shoes at ASOS I jumped to buy them!

It was soon time to flee as I had to be back by midnight (move over Cinderella) but a fab night was had by all, big congrats to all the winners and those nominated and shortlisted, as it’s no mean feat!

If you enjoyed this post, then keep an eye on She Might Be where I’ll be talking black tie trends very soon!
