My Christmas Break

So this isn’t an ordinary ‘What I got for Christmas’ Post. I do enjoy looking at other peoples so keep em coming but I wanted to do something a bit different.
It’s ‘Who i got to spend Christmas with’ instead with a bit of what I got thrown in. This Christmas I’ve really noticed the amount of presents children get (and some expect!) nowadays and I felt rather old and annoyed over the expectation of christmas costing tons of money! So this year I wanted to give not just to receive back and to focus on enjoying what money can’t buy too.

In the morning Mr E and me opened presents with our cat Poppy, she was very excited by her new toy mouse, and I was very excited about my Owl experience for 2, from Mr E, I can’t wait to get it booked in the new year!

I got Mr E a custom family painting from Juicy Lucy

I knew Lucy painted these as we met her a few Christmases ago, but I was reminded of them again this year and had one of us with Poppy and Pogo (who went to Catty heaven in October) sat together. Lucy has been one of my favourite artists for a long time and in the first weeks of meeting Mr E I gave him one of her wallet cards that said ‘you make me too excited to sleep’ so her artwork has always meant something to us as a couple and this was the perfect thing for our home!

We then nipped to my parents where mum had another present for me which I didn’t know about, it was 2 sentimental rings. A gold rose shape one that belonged to my great aunty Alice and then my nana, and another sapphire and diamond band that was my mums (and is over 40 years old!) . These mean everything to me and the band sits perfectly with my wedding band and hasn’t come off since!

I spent the rest of Christmas Day with Mr E’s side of the family, we had dinner with all the trimmings and spent the evening playing games and charades. We finished off by watching an old family VHS tape which included birthdays, Christmases and snow! Check out the old skool snowman!

The highlight of the tapes though was Mr E dancing to Michael Jackson’s Black and White on stage on holiday. I’m not allowed to post pics of this (for fear of divorce!!) but trust me when I say he could move! Just maybe not in time, or with consideration for the music!

Boxing Day was spent relaxing before going to my brothers new house for dinner.
We had a lovely family dinner with my nephew before he had to head back to his mums as they were off skiing the next day(lucky for some) My brother directed us on a detour home so we could see ‘the gaudiest Christmas house’ his words which my mum just loved!!

The evening was meant to be spent playing Uno but as the rain turned to sleet we abandoned it to go home and watch the snow fall into the late hours of the day.

Saturday was relax day, we made fudge thanks to a Calico Litchen fudge kit

Given to us as a gift from Mr E’s aunty and uncle , it’s so easy to make and tasted yum! My final christmas surprise came then in the form of a video message from my ultimate fave Shakka! (Check his sound cloud out here if you haven’t heard him yet!)
Mr E wrote to him to ask for a message as im such a fan girl of his and he sent us a lovely Christmas message (much better than the queens speech!) where the best advice was to ‘smash up New Years , in a good way, like drink lots and touch each other lots!!’ Which made us both howl! Cheers Shakka!

It meant a lot that I got to spend time with family this Christmas and I had such a fun time! Roll on NYE with friends tonight and my birthday this weekend!
