Welcome to my dream dress. I mentioned I was thinking about pulling together a little crochet lace edit after falling in love with all the Self Portrait Spring Summer lacy dresses and looking for affordable alternatives and it was this dress really that set it all off.  I’d seen this dress I’m talking about today on the New Look Instagram feed back in April after it had been featured in Hello Fashion magazine. I tried my best to find a size 18 however I soon realised it only went up to a 16, and a small 16 at that. I was gutted, I tried to make Rachel buy it so I could live vicariously through her haha but it was to no avail! (Check out her Self Portait love here tho)

I prayed to the fashion gods for New Look to do it in their Curves range (which is the new name for their Plus Size offerings now) and suddenly when shopping about 5 weeks later what did I stumble upon?

Behold the Curves White Ladder Lace Trim Skater Dress literally I was beaming from ear to ear over this find. I quickly tried it on, and although slightly shorter than my usual preferred length of dress I knew it still had to be mine. So I took it on my shoot with super photographer Matt as a second outfit option for the day, and wanted to share it with you!

The lace is gloriously thick, the nude lining beneath is the perfect contrast, the ladder detail nods to Self Portrait but with a shape that accommodates a decent size bust. The waist is fitted well, and it looks worth so much more than its £39.99 price tag. Now I’m wearing flats here and the dress is short, however my posture is very much ‘I’ve finished a long day at work and I’m wearing a pretty dress with my crappy flat ballet pumps’ kinda posture. I’m also wearing a balcony strapless bra which isn’t a necessity with this dress and a nice plunge would look so much better. Matt still made the dress look so pretty though and if you’re in Leeds and blog fashion then I’d recommend having a shoot with him for sure!

This is the size 20 and fits beautifully. The exposed back zip, zips up without strain (which came in handy for a change in the M&S toilets for the shoot), it’s comfy to drive in (yep I drove home in it as couldn’t be bothered to change) and it’s just gorgeous.

There was/is a blue version in the core range and a pencil skirt version in the core range too, and I wish they’d made the blue in the Curves range as its so pretty. But for now I’m drooling over a few other items on the New Look Curves Range including the floral Bardot dres that Em and Emma both look so fab in and the embroidered bomber jacket. It’s just love. I feel like I’ve fallen back in love with New Look this Spring summer so long may it continue, I feel the style, trends and speed to market has been on point, and every weeks there’s something new on my wish list, is there anything you’ve got you eye on from there?
