Now the hype has died down on the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette I managed to get my hands on a brand new one from a Facebook beauty site that I admin. There were a few girls on the site that hadn’t rated theirs too much so I was really keen to see if it was worth the hype.

By now you’ve probably seen this is real life, but if you haven’t the case is pretty thick, it’s feels good quality but it’s slightly more bulky than it needs to be so its not that great for travelling or for small make up bags! The main gripe the ladies had was that it was just too neautral, now this isn’t a Vice palette so you’re not going to get the crazy colours that comes along with those, but equally it’s not a Naked palette so you’re not expecting all the neutrals either.

At least 9 of the 15 eyeshadows could easily fit in the neutrals category so I can see why it might be an issue to some! However I blooming love it! The top left colour- Blonde mixed with the one to the right – Bathwater are the perfect neutral blend with a slight shimmer for my brow bone, the middle far left Baby is a beautiful rose shimmer which I used in the centre corner of each eye alongside Pop and Skimp in the very corners.

To smoke out the eye the classic Urban Decay shade Blackout takes centre stage for the cut crease, with the shade Zone in the inner crease. The burgundy matte shade Punk is fab to give some depth to the look too. I am in love.

For the below eyes I added a Bare Minerals High Shine Eyecolor in Rose Gold to the centre and Illamsqua Precision Gel Liner for the wing.

Now I don’t see me using the blue anytime soon but the rest of the palette makes up for it. I do think some of the darker shades gives it the edge on the naked palettes, but I can see why others might decide to stick with their naked fave. Personally I’ve abandoned mine to carry this one around and it’s made it to Barcelona this week so is in my top 5 eyeshadow palettes at the moment!

Based on this love, and my love of Alice in Wonderland I have just bought the new Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Palette and I’ll be posting a review once I’m back and have picked it up from Harvey Nic’s! Let me know in the comments if you want any particular swatches of any colour in that, as it’s quite a bright one!
